Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions can PRP treat?
PRP is used to treat a variety of conditions, including: tendon injuries, ligament sprains, joint osteoarthritis, muscle strains, overuse injuries, hair loss, aesthetic treatment and wound healing. In this live seminar we will focus on orthopedic/sports medicine injuries.
Am I a good candidate for Orthobiologics?
Orthobiologics, such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), are autologous, so obtained from your own body – and your body can do amazing things! PRP is a natural way to promote healing without the need for surgery. The benefit is it can be used for a wide range of medical and cosmetic conditions. If you have a history of certain conditions, like cancer, infections, or uncontrolled diabetes, PRP might not be suitable for you. Some medications, like blood thinners (e.g., aspirin or warfarin), may need to be temporarily stopped before the procedure because they can affect the blood’s ability to clot. Always consult with your healthcare provider about any medications you’re taking. Join this seminar to get your questions answered by Dr. Steven K. Poon with Mayo Clinic.
How long before I feel pain relief?
Full results often take several months, and multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal results. For conditions like tendonitis, osteoarthritis, or ligament sprains, PRP can help with tissue repair and reduce inflammation. However, the severity and chronicity of the condition may influence its effectiveness. Attend this live webinar to ask Sports Medicine Specialist, Dr. Poon, your specific questions.
